A/N: A KuroxTomo one-shot with a twist at the end.
He could still remember the hideous man's voice. Once overbearing, now only pathetic. "You already made a team...Syaoran's team...and you are with it." Kurogane admitted to himself that he had taken on a liking to the boy named Syaoran. But no, his loyalties lay elsewhere. His one and only Tomoyo-hime. He was ashamed to admit that she had been forgotten among the strange occurrences and conflicts that seemed to divert his attention in the past few days. How could he have lost even a sliver of a memory of her? After all, she was the reason he was in the Hanshin Republic in the first place.
"Please be well on your journey Kurogane!" Her last words to him. Or at least, the last words he heard before being engulfed into her mystifying magic. How could she have asked him to be well? If she really wanted him to be well she never would have tortured him so. Cursing him, sending him to Yuuko, getting his precious ginryu taken away, having to deal with Fai's irksome remarks. He hated her for it. But no, he just couldn't bring himself to say it. Thinking it was fine. Translating the thought into speech made it too...final. He didn't hate her. No, not really. She was troublesome to him, but that was her charm. He remembered her taunting voice, yet so riddled with affection that he just couldn't pull away from the seduction. He remembered just exactly how her magnificent hair would curl at the ends, yet lie sleek and straight everywhere else. He remembered the many times he would call her just Tomoyo, most often out of sheer irritation, yet she would not mind and called him Kurogane in return. A silent acknowledgement of their mutual understanding towards each other. Love? Kurogane thought not. But deep inside, he knew it was true. If only she were not deeply in love with that damned ninja Souma, things would have been perfect.
A/N: If you think I should have created a more conventional ending, let me know. I'll gladly write different versions to adhere to many tastes.
