Character Dynamics: Red Tornado, Batman, Young Justice

Episode: #18, "Secrets"

"Artemis' relations may indeed make her a suspect, but she is still entitled to a secret identity. I'm more concerned about Superboy." Striding towards Red Arrow and Red Tornado, cape billowing behind him, Batman offers a pointed look to the mechanical superhero. "We still know very little about what Cadmus programmed into their weapon. Connor could be the mole and not know it."

The present expression upon Batman's visage is simple enough for him to compute. Beneath his hard shell, deliberately constructed to provide the impression of a humanoid, Red Tornado's snarled internal wires hum in acknowledgement. The levers of his neck shift to bow his head, line of vision averted from that impinging, masked expression. If I were a flesh and blood being, perhaps I would interpret this understanding as a sentiment of guilt.

Beside him, Red Arrow continues to add to the discussion, proposing that M'Gann may also pose as a suspect. The motorized man, however, fails to focus on his teammate's discussion. His wires feel as if they will shrivel and curl as he recalls the events of his, alongside his brothers and sister, betrayal. He had been able to identify that, at the time, the teenage heroes and the League assumed him to be the possible infiltrator that his teammates were currently discussing. Accessing these events causes his programming to react in a way that he has never experienced. Perhaps it due to how he has come to care for the young heroes. Or maybe the fact that his teammates, his brothers and sisters in arms, had distrusted him created these odd connections. Either way, his nature is only to adapt to humanity, not become a life form himself. It is in my circuits, I suppose.

"…I have fought side by side with these people. None of them are traitors."

Kaldur's firm tone bleeds into the others and Red Tornado can recognize it without difficulty. Electric impulses blend with his past musings, and the inevitable surfaces his mind…

Why did they not put the same faith in me?

A/N: All apologies if this seems a tad OOC. Red Tornado is not human, after all, so it was a little difficult to write his thought process. A review would be lovely, for this was a challenge!
