Hunted

The ending. Barley breathing, barley moving. Barley alive. He turned the stake towards my heart, waiting and anticipating my hurt reaction. How I'd fight him until the end, and sacrifice myself or something. Not on a vampire's honour.
"This is how it will end. At the mercy of my best friend. The vampire hunter. I suppose I won't be able to do a thing about my death, now will I?" His eyes were filled with anger, looking into my own.
"Darren. I told you. I'd get stronger, and hunt you both down. You know I'd never break a promise. Not one like this." Steve sighed as he lowered the stake.
I was somewhat relieved, not having it pointed at my heart anymore. "I know, Steve. You've already killed him. Why not go through with me as well?"
"I-----haven't trained for it!" He stuttered, trying to think up a better awnser.
"Haven't trained for what? Not killing your best friend? You took on a full blooded vampire."
"You're right. I didn't actually prepare for this. Him; it was easy to kill Vu Horesten(AN: Is that how you spell Mr. Creepsly's other name?) after the Cirque de Freak. Damnit. This should be easy too."
I smirked at his reluctance. 'At least he's not too cold-blooded.' "So. You getting this over with or what? It's not like I can do anything to stop you."
"You're too confident, Darren, sometimes. You know that right? Too damn confident for your own good."
"Yeah. I've been told Steve."
"You did this just to piss me off! You told him to reject me as a vampire! You deserve to die," He raised the stake towards my heart again, as he walked slowly forwards. I could see the flicker of another personality. Another person trying to come out. To save his soul and his mind. To keep him sane at least.
"Steve.........," The tip of the stake pressed against me. He drove it farther into my heart as I could barley see the shadows. Everything went blurry as I finally realized what was happening. They had caught up with us. After many years, the hunters were hunted. The years of the vampire were coming closed. I laughed softly as I looked up at Steve's face. He looked like he had just killed his best friend. "Don't worry 'bout it.........." I smiled as I felt the sharp intake of air. Everything went black.
