AN: These are all unrelated drabbles whenever I have time, which are based around a random word, which I get from a random word generator. They'll basically be about Kurt and/or Blaine, with Klaine wherever it fits in. Also Klaine never broke up in my head, which reflects in this story.
Slur
A fire burned in Kurt. It ignited like gasoline, engulfing him whole in complete anger. It wasn't a new feeling to him- he had suffered through this for years.
But that didn't nullify it. It still hurt every time it happened. It was another gash on his mind, another scar to serve as a reminder later. There was no getting used to it, there was no numbing.
If he weren't consumed by rage, Kurt would be amazed at the ignorance of the population. The immense amount of disrespect for others. The general lack of compassion.
And after all of this crap he had dealt with, he had allowed himself the hope that it was over. That being here in New York would fix all of it. Everyone would embrace his eccentricity. That he would be accepted. That he would be loved.
He wasn't more disappointed in society than now. In the land of acceptance, he was the odd one out. But he wouldn't take this from some imbecile. He couldn't take this from some imbecile.
Courage.
He turned around and looked straight into the eyes of his attacker. "Don't ever call anyone that again. It's malicious and unfair. How does it benefit you to say that to me? How does it benefit you to say that to anyone? You think you're gonna scare me straight? It doesn't work like that. And if you think that it's worth you're time to try to tear someone else down, then you need to re-asses your life decisions. Because I don't know what you're doing with your life, but I have more important things to do than teaching an adult basic decorum."
Kurt turned back around, caught his boyfriend's hand in his, and kept walking. When he reached the next corner, he felt a pair of soft and slightly moist lips on his cheek. He smiled at the small, caring action from his boyfriend. It was something so little that meant so much. So he turned and gave Blaine a chaste kiss on the lips. This was how it's supposed to be.
