.Fireworks

Olette has put herself in charge of equally distributing the sparklers. When Pence hands her another bag of them, she does the math and divides by six. There will be one extra, and she will probably give it to Pence. She sighs contentedly and turns to look at the others.

Fuu sits on the edge of the clock tower and holds a sparkler over the edge. Rai sits next to her and watches, having donated his own sparklers to Fuu's pile. Seifer and Hayner seemt to have mutually decided that they'd rather collaborate on blowing stuff up than argue with each other. The shorter boy bounces to Seifer excitedly;

"These ones!" Hayner decides, holding up a bag of fireworks. After eying the massive warning list, Seifer grins and takes them. He nudges Rai;

"Lighter."

Rai frowns and searches his pockets. A few unlit sparklers fall off the tower in his search, revealing a lighter below them. Rai hands it to Seifer and grins, then apologizes to Fuu, who glares at him for wasting the sparklers.

"That's not very safe," Pence says slowly. "From up here, those fireworks are kind of... Dangerous."

Olette scoots a few feet farther from the boys, trying to delude herself into thinking it will help, or that their stupidity won't rub off on her. (Except Pence, who she offers a seat next to her.)

Seifer looks at him speculatively for a moment. "What if we throw them over the edge after lighting them?"

Hayner jumps; "Cool!"

"What if it lands on someone?" Olette asks. She tries to prompt them into using their brains every now and then, but it never seems to work.

"What if it doesn't?" Seifer counters, and has already lit the firework.

Olette pretends she's not amused, but they all know better.
