"Here, hold this." Lia tossed a blanket at her friend standing in the doorway. "I only need a few more things…"
"What is all this for?" the knight asked as he folded the blanket. Lia continued to gather up items from the kitchen and pile them in a basket.
"It's for a picnic, silly. It's nice out, and I think I'll go crazy if I'm stuck inside for one more day!"
He smiled. "Did you get anyone else to tag along?"
"No… Max is away and d'Eon's holed himself up in his room writing yet another essay." She sighed. "So it's just you and me."
"Just… Us?"
"Mmmhmm." Lia slung the basket under one arm and hooked her other arm through Durand's. "Shall we?"

Innocent. That's all it was. An innocent picnic. So why did she have too look so pretty in the sunlight?
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Liar." She poured wine in to two glasses and handed one to him. "Something's bothering you."
"And…" Lia continued with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "Are you going to tell me, or do I have to force it out of you?"
Durand smiled but stayed silent. Maximillien would kill him if he made a pass at Lia, as Maxxy was planning to propose. It was funny how the bravest knight he knew was scared to ask for a woman's hand in marriage.
"C'mon, you can tell me." She was leaning on Durand's shoulder now, with her face close to his.
"It's nothing, really."
"Your less convincing than usual. Now I know something's wrong."
Women always complicated things. Always. Never had he met a woman who didn't complicate everything around her… Not that is was a bad thing, per say, but it made the matters of loved all that more muddled.
Women.
"It's not like you to be shy."
"It's not like you to be so persistent."
She laughed. "Yes it is, and you know it. I can keep a secret… Who is she?"
Lia must have some sixth sense for figuring these things out. And before he could stop, she got her answer.
"You."
Durand turned away and flushed. Now he'd done it. Great job, ruining a completely good friendship-
She grabbed his shoulders, spun him around, and kissed him before either could think. There where a few long minutes before they finally broke apart.
"Oh." Was the only thing he said, and it sent Lia in to a fit of giggles.
Maybe this picnic wouldn't be so bad.

Requested by my friend Dalton, who also came up with the theme.
