It was 9 am when a blurry eyed Ty knocked on Sherlock's door. Quickly Holmes answered the door. "Ah, Ty is it?" He asked. The man nodded.
"If you're looking for Joan, I'm afraid you just missed her. She's gone to visit her mother."
"No, I came to talk to you," Ty told Sherlock.
"About what exactly?" The detective asked.
Ty took a deep breath and said: "Joan."
Sherlock stiffened. "What about Watson?"
"Are you two involved?" Ty asked.
Sherlock sighed and shook his head. "I'm an addict Ty. Joan is my sober companion and yes, I consider her a friend. But no, she and I are not romantically involved."
"But you spend so much time together," Ty protested.
"For two reasons," Holmes explained. "She is paid by my father to keep me on the straight and narrow."
"And the second one?"
"She helps me with my cases, while I teach her my methods." Sherlock answered.
Ty chuckled. "And how's that working for you?"
Sherlock smirked, wondering why Joan would even speak to this pompous fool for two seconds, let alone the two years it took for their relationship.
"It's working quite well actually. In fact, I believe that Watson was born to be a detective. She has a knack for noticing the small details." He paused, then asked his guest:
"Ty are you a jealous man?"
Ty said nothing for a minute or two then replied: "Before I met Joan I would've said 'no'. Now I have to say 'yes'. I'm not sure what kind of person that makes me."
Sherlock frowned. "I believe that makes you a somewhat insucure individual."
Ty nodded, his expression solemn. "Yeah, I guess your right, Mr. Holmes. Tell Joan that I stopped by, won't you? And thanks for listening."
Sherlock smiled. "Happy to help and yes, I'll tell Watson that you were looking for her."
"Great!" Ty said. "Well, I'll see you."
Sherlock nodded and opened the door. "Don't worry, Ty I'll make sure that Watson gets your message."
Ty nodded and left the brownstone. Holmes closed the door and wondered if jealousy was contagious.
