Musa was fourteen was she learned what it meant to be a princess.

Her father was out of town on business and she, beingthe princess, had to assist in making a hard decision. A man of 34 came to the palace to request an audience with the royal council.

He and his family were poor farmers and their harvest that year had been small. He was scraping by to feed his family. Unfortunately, an ophan had stolen a relatively small amount of crystals in order to feed herself. The man wanted the girl punished; the girl was apologetic but she refused to apologize for what was necessary to survive.

The decision was up to Musa. Appease the man and punish the girl, or anger the man and let the girl go. The council wanted to punish the girl. It was wrong to steal, andthe man was struggling himself.

Musa was torn. She knew she had to make a decision, andshe couldn't interrupt her father. She insisted they have lunch in the palace while she thought over the problem. Let the family struggle even more, or let a girl be punished for surviving.

Three hours later, she had made up her mind. When she had called them into the library, she announced that the girl would not be in trouble on the basis that she work for the money and help the farmer with whatever he needed around the farm. In return for accepting this decision, the royal family themselves would repay the farmer for the money that was stolen. They agreed and both left satisfied.

When the king returned and learned of what his daughter had done, he decided that she was ready to start her royal training. He had never been more proud of her.

Just two years later when she met a moody specialist, she realized how good her choice was.
