She doesn't mind field trips but this one is more than she bargained for. Except she never actually bargained for anything. She thought that the teachers were finally back to normal and so everything could go back to normal when they're abruptly and rather rudely abducted by the government. And now she sounds like one of those crazy Americans who are always talking about alien abductions and conspiracy theories. Except they really did get abducted by a government agency that just happens to deal with the extraterrestrial problems of the universe.
This is wrong. It's messed up and it's wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. She's not cut out for this. She couldn't even make the junior team of crime fighting mutants and now they throw her into this? It's not fair.
Oh great. Now she even sounds like her classmates. She really should go back to Japan the next time school's on break. She's starting to get too American. Of course, she's not entirely so certain that she's going to survive long enough to get back to school.
As far as field trips go, this one sucks. First they're abducted to a spaceship, then that spaceship is more or less blown up around then, and now everyone's scattered around this stupid planet because they crash landed. As in literally crash landed. As in she had crashed into that stupid desert planet and would have died if she didn't have that armour for her mutation.
She has a test on Wednesday. A chemistry test. She doesn't have time to save a world. If she fails it, she's screwed. Somehow, she gets the feeling that he doesn't really give a damn though. No. She knows he doesn't give a damn.
He gave her his own twisted sort of a lecture. He really needs to work on those though. Calling her a kid and saying that she's not ready to see certain stuff counteracted everything else he was saying. What does he know? After everything that's happened around the school lately, she feels like she could handle anything that comes…
Okay, maybe his lecture did work. He's got her figured out. The only thing he didn't say was that her fighting with them would bring honour to her family. Which is good. Because that? Would've been a low blow.
Death's not really something she's planning on, but she knows all too well that it's there; lurking silently until the time comes for it to rear its ugly head once more. She doesn't want to die. She doesn't want to die anymore than she wants to be on this field trip. Someone's going to die and she doesn't want it to be her. But if it is her… maybe she'll get lucky. No one on the team stays dead for very long.
She's not supposed to be fighting yet. She's not supposed to die yet. She's not supposed to wear one of these uniforms yet. She's not supposed to even know worlds besides Earth exist. And she's certainly not supposed to be on one of them fighting for not just her life but the lives of people she respects and cares about.
But it's time now. Time to show everyone that she can handle herself. Time to add her own glimmer to the family honour. Time to prove herself to anyone who ever doubted.
Save the galaxy now. Worry about chemistry later. If she survives.
