Kate smiled tiredly at the lump resting on the other side of the bed. She slowly climbed in trying to not make noises as much as she can. She threw her arms across it, relishing in the warmth in contrast to the almost freezing temperature outside.
She pulled the duvet down to reveal her fiance's smiling face.
"Hi." She greeted. "I had a long day today and I really wished you were there."
She chuckled forlornly.
"We had this one guy who worked as a clown in an amusement park, which later turned out to be a spy from the CIA. You would've loved it. It's totally your kind of thing."
She caressed his face staring back at her silently. Her legs now thrown across his side of the bed.
"I miss working with you. I miss seeing you around me, building theories, attempting to make me feel better all day when a case gets to me. I miss you bringing me coffees in the morning. I miss all of it. I miss you so much, babe." A lone tear left her eye.
She gazed longingly at him. Eyes wrinkled on the corners from his smile, unblinking.
She took the picture frame from his pillow, cradling it against her body. Her arm and leg leaving the the lump of pillows she lined up in his side to fill up the space.
"I miss you so much, Rick, always." She whispered, now crying. "I wish you're still here."
