"That's gotta be it." - Double or Nothing
We're in his truck, he's cupping my face kissing me with his soft lips. I'm running my hands up his strong and muscular arm. I look into his eyes smiling that big goofy grin that I wear whenever I'm around him. He caresses my cheek with an adoring look on his face while I sigh happily.
He is the first man that I have ever loved like this. In high school I wasn't exactly the social butterfly. I always had my nose buried in a book, and when I wasn't reading I was spouting on about the wonders of physics and science. Safe to say that I was the ultimate geek, and never turned a boys head when walking down the hallway. When I graduated I moved to Los Angeles to study at UCLA, I got my masters and before I knew what was happening I was sucked into another dimension. I never got the opportunity to become a woman like most girls do after high school and college. I was stuck in that spot, or so it seemed.
I didn't think that any guy would appreciate me for a woman until Gunn and I started to spend time together. He made me laugh and he treated me nice. He told me how amazing I was every day, and no matter how odd I acted he always treated me like a sane person, even though at times I felt like I was losing my mind. He took me out for pancakes every morning, and he told me I was beautiful. And he protects me.
There was a time when I was afraid to leave my room at the Hyperion, afraid that something terrible would happen and I would go straight back to Pylea and I would never be safe. But being around him and his strong arms and reassuring smile I could come down and face that possibility. He made me realize that I couldn't hide forever and I gave him something to live for.
And that is why he makes me melt.
