She Chose the Wrong Man...

"Love...Is it not the most confusing emotion...known to humankind?" Light spoke to Misa in a voice that expressed only care, only tenderness. It was this voice that made her heart and mind flutter to a place where only he would be allowed to take her...but it was the darkness in her soul that forced the reply:

"Is it even a real emotion?" The bitterness in her voice surprised even her...

But...Light laughed. He laughed. Misa jumped. She'd never really heard Light laugh before...Always before, when he laughed, it was more of a maniacal I'm-Kira-I-always-win laugh...a response to anyone who had the balls to defy Kira's will...This laugh, though was far from evil. This laugh was an invitation...this laugh reflected the softer Light...Misa's Light...

"How could it not be?"

"I don't know...it just never seemed real...to me...Has it shown you any different Light? Light?"

From the absentminded look on his face as he stared out his bedroom window, Light hadn't heard a single word of what Misa had just said.

"I'm sorry, Misa. I didn't hear your question. I assume, though, that it was asking whether or not love seems real to me. Am I correct?"

"Yes..."

"Well...before I met you...it didn't."

Misa gasped. Even though she enjoyed being used by Light, and would do anything for him, it had never occurred to her that he actually felt something else...other than lust...

Then she woke. She began to cry, for she knew that her most wonderful—and illogical—dream would be as likely to come true as Light being caught off guard. He didn't love her...Misa knew that she was only another pawn in Light's chess game of "justice"...Kira's game.

But of course, that never stalled her mind from straying to those bedroom fantasies of hers...policewoman/inmate was her favorite, since she and Light had both been captured by L(willingly, of course) and both L and Light knew, Misa looked damn sexy in either outfit.

Misa wasn't a promiscuous woman, but her heart was split between her two loves—Light and L. So, to break the painful tie, she chose to entrust her heart to the man with more skills in the bedroom. She cos-played first with L, as a criminal waiting to be "punished"--L was to be the judge of her punishment. Misa enjoyed L, but she still had to make a decision based on Her experience with Light. So, the night after she played with L(he had decided to release them that day, ironically)she visited Light, this time dressed as a policewoman. He was the criminal. She delighted in both men's company, of course, and she thought that both men enjoyed her as well—but, since she was the one choosing which to love forever...

She chose Light, of course. That's why she was surprised at her forbidden dream. Light couldn't possibly love her back, even though she wished with all her heart that he would.

It was then that Rem appeared beside her bed.

"What's wrong Misa? Why are you crying?" she asked.

"I think I made a mistake, Rem. This doesn't seem right."
