"What the heck is he doing?"
"Baking."
Dew blinked and peered over Jan's shoulder again, into the kitchen where Cunningham seemed to be working over a pan.
"Are those cookies?" Dew asked as he noticed the remains of what might have been stomped-on cookie cutters, on the floor. Jan nodded.
"Lebkuchen gingerbread cookies. He wanted to buy a box for Takeshi."
"So.. why is he baking?"
"My fault." Jan sighed. "We were going to pick them up and I mentioned that it might be more romantic to bake them himself. It was a joke. I didn't think he'd actually do it. Now he won't quit until they're absolutely perfect."
"So he'll never be done."
"Yeah."
Dew rolled his eyes. "I'll talk him out of it."
"Mega WatchWorld Advance?" Takeshi looked up from the open box in his hands at a smiling Cunningham.
"Yeah. Do you like it?"
The younger pilot grinned. "It's awesome, man. Thanks a lot." Takeshi carefully placed the game aside and presented a brightly wrapped red and gold box. "Here. I got this for you."
"Thanks." Cunningham pulled the ribbon off and stared blankly at the label while Takeshi laughed, nervously.
"They're Lebkuchen gingerbread cookies. From Germany. I thought you might like them..." The shorter boy trailed off while Cunningham remained silent. "Uh... If you don't, there are lots of other—
"I love them." The taller man smiled and firmly added, "Really. I was just surprised."
"About what?"
"Something stupid Jan and Dew told me."

Notes:
Lebkuchen are a type of traditional German Christmas cookies. It's a form of gingerbread. Tasty.
Dew, Cunningham and Jan are so screwing each other, all the time. They can't stop. Really.
