Just a little idea I came up with after orientation. Nothing too great. But anyways, I don't own Avatar for if I did I'd be really filthy rich. But alas, I'm not.

It was a peaceful night. There was a small breeze that kept the warm air from feeling too warm. There were a few wispy clouds drifting lazily across the sky, sometimes obscuring the moon's light for a few minutes.

Because of the night's air was blissfully warm, all the night blooming jasmine bushes in the area opened their fragrant flowers, as if they were moon bathing. The only noise to be heard were the sounds of the sleeping birds up in the tree tops.

All in all, it was the kind of night that one would fall asleep no problem. Unfortunately, the surroundings only kept Sokka up. As the others lay sleeping peacefully, Sokka stared up at the full moon above.

"Yue…" he whispered softly, "You'd be surprised by where I've been and what I've done. If only there was a way to tell you…"

A small breeze blew across Sokka's face as if to say that it was sorry for there not being an easy way to communicate with Yue's spirit. Sokka dropped his eyes from the silver moon and sighed. The small fire that Katara had made before they settled down for the night popped and crackled, sending warmth to Sokka's feet.

The breeze blew a little harder and an ember flew out of the dying fire and landed on Sokka's leg where it burned through his pants and burned his skin, making Sokka yelp and slap at the stinging area. Despite all the commotion, no one woke up and Sokka let out a sigh of relief.

Looking down at the glowing fire, Sokka got an idea. He pulled out a small piece of paper and a piece of charcoal from the fire and began to write a letter.

"Dear Yue," read the letter, "I miss you so much. I know that this sounds cheesy but, my days don't seem as bright as they did when I was with you and my nights are filled with regret as I look at the moon and think of you. I feel guilty when I look at other girls because I remember how I had let you down when you needed me the most. I hope that you are happy where you are now and I hope that you forgive me. I will never forget you… All my love -Sokka".

When his letter was finished, a single tear slid down his cheek and landed on the paper before Sokka folded it into a neat square and tossed it into the smoldering embers. The edges of the paper began to char, but it didn't ignite. Sokka bit his lip and thought for a second before looking around and picking up a handful of leaves and twigs. After these were added to the cinders, flames reappeared and crackled merrily.

Sokka watched as his letter burned to ash and watched the smoke rise to the starry sky, carrying his letter to Yue. When the fire died down again, Sokka smiled and lay back down. With one last smile to the full moon over head, Sokka fell into a dreamless sleep.

The next morning, Katara was covering the remains of their campfire and noticed a small charred piece of paper. She picked it up and saw that written on it was the word 'love'. The writing was smudged pretty badly so she didn't know who wrote it but she took a guess that it was her brother who had written it. She looked up and glanced at Sokka just in time to see Toph out maneuver him yet again. Katara looked back down at the charred piece of paper in her hand and smiled, figuring that what ever he wrote was his own business and buried the paper along with the rest of the ashes.

(shrug) Nothing fancy. Read and review please! One flame and it's gone like Sokka's letter...sorry...
