Song fic for Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Troy had made a decision. Possibly the biggest decision of his entire life. It could cost him a friendship, it could cost him multiple friendships, but the possibility it brought to him overpowered his fear. He had to talk to Abed about it.
The ex-football player waited anxiously in his apartment with his best friend, waiting for him to come home. The knob finally turned, revealing a smiling Abed holding a cardboard box. "Surprise. I got a pizza." He stated very bluntly, but Troy knew him well enough to be able to tell that he was glad to see him. Or was he? Was he reading too much into the situation?
The two were more than roommates, they were best friends. "Abed, I need to talk to you...it's really important."
"Sure, Troy, anything." Abed sat the pizza on the table, sitting next to Troy on their couch.
Troy took a deep breath, "Abed...we do it all, everything, on our own. We don't need anything, or anyone." Abed look at him quizzically "Abed, if I lay here, if I just lay here...would you lie with me? And just look at the world?"
"Troy, I don't under-" But Abed was cut off, Troy wasn't finished.
"I don't quite know how to say how I feel. Those three words are said too much, than not enough. Abed, be honest, if I lay here, if I just lay here...would you lie with me? And just look at the world? Forget what we're told." Troy took another deep breath sitting straight up and leaning a little closer to Abed, "Before we get too old. Show me your garden that's bursted into life."
Abed pushed Troy away slightly, "Troy...I don't understand what you're going on about. What are you trying to say?"
"Let's waste time chasing cars around our heads. I need you're grace to reap my needs, to find my own." Troy pushed forward again, wrapping his arms awkwardly around Abed's neck, blushing a deep red, as he fell backwards onto the couch, pulling Abed on top of him, "If I lay here...if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just look at the world? Forget what we're told before we get too old. Show me your garden that's bursted into life!" As if to punctuate his sentence, Troy kissed Abed on the lips, light and gentle but full of feeling. He saw Abed about to speak when he pulled off and interrupted him once again. He had to know absolutely everything.
"All that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see. I don't know where, confused about how as well, just know that these things will never change for us at all." Troy smiled up at Abed who's face very slowly turned into a smile of it's own.
Troy opened his mouth to speak yet again, but Abed interrupted him this time. "If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just look at the world?" Abed kissed Troy deeply, smiling against the other boys lips.
