More of a ...short, intro chappy, I guess. This is an FMA fic, but sadly I do not own anything produced or owned by Hiromu Arakawa, BONES, FUNimation, etc.

Six year old Kaieri Narita stared solemnly at her mother's grave.
She was pressed tightly against her older brother's side, silent tears rolling down her cheeks.
She turned her face against her brother's side, clutching his arm tightly.
"Kia…Mom's gone…I think we're going to the orphanage….We've got to promise to stick together…" the teen said quietly.
"But what about Daddy, Kayin?" Kaieri asked in a small voice.
"No! He's not our father!" Kayin shouted suddenly.
Kaieri flinched, drawing back in surprise.
Kayin, after noticing Kaieri's reaction, knelt down and pulled her into a hug.
"Kaieri…just promise me we'll always stay together, alright?
Kaieri nodded slightly. "Alright."
The siblings stayed at their mother's grave for awhile longer before two state officials came to lead them away from the cemetery and to the orphanage, just as Kayin had predicted.
The rest of their lives lay ahead of them, but in no way could they predict how events would unfold.
