What Sara Said

His anger had slowly dissipated. They had found her. That's all that mattered.

Both fear and relief caused the butterflies in his stomach. He wasn't sure if he should focus on the fact that Sara had been rescued, or the uncertainty of her health.

His mind slowly drifted to his life before and after her. He thought of all the time he had wasted pushing her away. He thought of how badly he treated her and how happy they both were as their friendship turned into something more.

He barely noticed his co-workers silently huddled close to each other; preparing themselves for the worst. Year old magazines were scattered all over the waiting room. A small television sat in the corner; entertaining itself. On the other side of the room there was a group of about ten people crying over the loss of a loved one.

'This is the place where people say goodbye' he thought to himself.

A nurse walked over, and everyone lifted their heads. He tried as hard as he could to listen to what the nurse was saying, but he couldn't. He was thinking about a conversation the team had about eight years ago. The topic was love. After everyone had given their definitions, they waited silently for Sara's. She started to walk out, but turned when she got to the door and said:

"I think love is watching someone die."

Everyone had given her a strange look as she walked out of the room and down the hall. He understood her definition now. If it came to that, he wouldn't let her die alone.

"Grissom," Catherine said quietly, bringing him out of his trance. He looked around the room to see everyone's eyes on him.

"Lighten up," Nick said "The Nurse said she would make a full recovery.

"Let's go visit her!" said Greg, jumping out of his seat. Everyone started walking down the hallway to her room. Seeing her lying bruised and broken on the hospital bed was hard for all of them.

Her eyes fluttered open and focused on her friends, no…her family. She smiled faintly and waved at them

She was going to be okay.
