Jareth:
Jareth is the king of all goblins, Wizarding or not. He first entered the Labyrinth many years ago. Through unknown circumstances he became immortal around the age of twenty-seven and now has goblin magic, along with pointed ears and complete control of the Labyrinth. Due to his many years of isolation from humanity his personality and outlook are slightly eccentric, which explains his sometimes bizarre actions. Also, because it's been a while since he came into contact with human culture his general appearance is similar to a weird-looking seventies rocker (i.e. longish ruffled blond hair held together with lots of hairspray, odd looking outfits, and eye makeup that make his eyes look weird.) Usually he comes off as a rather intimidating (and kind of crazy) person who cares for nothing that does not directly affect him. However, underneath that tough exterior is a kind and misunderstood soul. He really doesn't mean to be scary.
Currently Jareth is in a bit of a sticky situation. Somehow, his life force is tied to the ever-changing Labyrinth, which is why it's hard for him to be away for too long. For reasons unknown, that world is slowly dying. If the Labyrinth is destroyed, Jareth will die. Obviously, he wants to live. According to the information he got from *can't reveal spoiler*, he must bind himself to a special person and share the burden of keeping the world of the Labyrinth alive. This is the reason he lures various persons into his maze, hoping to get lucky. Apparently Jareth can sense it when the special person is within range. However, not once in centuries has he found anybody who was even close to being the right person. Of course, that whole time he was assuming it had to be a girl….
