The events that had transpired during the previous shift were anything but ordinary. Even by grave shift's standards. Nonetheless it was Sara's first night back in town and they were determined to get answers while the "stone wall" was still in France.
"So, Sara, how's life?" Greg asked on behalf of the whole team amidst the noisy atmosphere of Franks.
"Oh, no I can already tell that's the easiest, and least embarrassing, question you have." Sara groaned and their waitress served their food.
"Now, why would you say that?" Nick drawled as he flashed a wide Texan grin at Sara.
"Because, I know you guys. And besides, why wouldn't you?" Sara smirked at the team as she began to sip her coffee.
"So how was the hot amazing tropical sex?" Catherine asked without blinking. Sara nearly covered Greg in coffee as her face turned a deep shade of red followed by the back of her neck. Sara sat speechless as she gawked from one person to the next.
"That good huh?" Catherine replied as she sipped her own coffee.
"So how long had you two been together before we found out?" Nick asked as he picked at his eggs.
"Well, Nicky, that depends on who you ask." Sara replied as she watched their questioning looks. "Remember when I had to talk to Ecklie about the whole thing after my accident? Well he asked the same question. I said two years. Gil said nine."
"Years?" Greg inquired as the team sat in shock.
"Yep. When told to get our answers straight we decided that both were right it just depended on your definition of "relationship"." Sara summed up and continued to sip her coffee.
"How so?" Catherine asked
"Well nine years ago I guess you could say that our relationship had a title of "imminent". Two years ago, on a Sunday I believe that title was changed to active."
"Ok. Since you kept us in the dark for so long, I think you should start from the beginning and tell us the whole story." Catherine stated and everyone agreed.
"Nope. We've already decided. You have to wait till Gil gets here for the details."Sara told them impassively while finishing her coffee. She smiled as she watched their faces turn from disappointed to confused to excited. And as they began to ask questions regarding his arrival she thought to herself, it's good to be home.
