Songfic: Lost - Within Temptation
After Jean had drowned, Rogue was numb. She had strived so hard to impress her friend and teacher. Jean had been the only one to fully understand her. To understand what she was going through. But that was gone now, and Rogue was left with nothing but the hope that Jean might not actually be dead. It was a long shot, granted, but it was hope none the less.
Rogue tried to stay strong, but there were times where the grief was so strong and she'd felt like she'd failed the one woman who meant so much to her. She'd lay curled up in her bed and struggle against the darkness never too far from completely taking over her mind. At times like this, Rogue would shut her eyes and cry out the one name that would bring her back for the brink of insanity. It was as if she was buried alive in confused thoughts, regret and grief.
Weeks passed and Rogue had pushed away all that tried to comfort her. If there was anyone that could even talk with her, it was Scott. But he was too wrapped up in his own sorrow to talk to anyone.
Rogue had finally let the darkness take over, spiralling her into insanity. She was safe here. Safe from the hurt and safe from feeling anything at all. The only thing that remained was the hope that Jean, her friend and teacher, would return and help her regain the sanity she no longer had.
