City Lights: Chapter I
Joey placed her earbuds in her ears, plugging them into her phone. She rested her head against the window of the car, and closed her eyes. The rain splashed against the glass, almost louder than the music she was playing. Joey was daydreaming off somewhere, when she felt a tap on her knee.
"Hey, so how about this weather, huh?" Her taxi driver grumbled in a Brooklyn accent. Not wanting to chit-chat, she reluctently answered. "Oh, yeah. Horrible." She faked a smile, and then put her earbuds right back in her ears.
The rest of the ride home the driver didn't talk to her much after, only to say how much the ride was when she had gotten out. Joey flipped her hood over her head and headed into a large building, tucking her phone and earbuds in her pocket.
When she had gotten inside, she took the elevator up to her and her mother's apartment. Opening the door, she yelled out, "I'm home!" Waiting for a reply from her mom, who was usually never home. But Joey always wanted her to be. Today she was not home.
"Again?" She spoke to herself. "How long can one shift at a damn pizza place be." She threw her bag and phone onto the leather sofa, and unbuttoned her jacket. Sliding it off her arms, she hung it over a chair to dry. Joey helped herself to the fridge, where she pulled out some grapes. She tossed some in a bowl, and flopped down onto the couch.
She watched TV while munching on the grapes, and soon dozed off before her mom got home.
The next day, Joey woke up alone on the sofa. Her mother had already left for work. Sometimes, she wonders if she even works at a pizza place at all. Joey shrugged and got up. She could feel how messy her blonde hair was. She lifted her hands to her head and felt around. She sighed in disgust, and headed to the bathroom.
She brushed her hair out, brushed her teeth, and took a shower. Usually she didn't care much about makeup, but on occasion she would wear some. While dusting her cheeks with blush, Joey heard a slight knock on the door. She set down her brush and walked to the door, and looked out the peephole.
Once she saw who it was, she opened the door. It was Adam, her boyfriend. "Hey, Adam. What are you doing here?" She asked hugging him.
"Can't a boyfriend just suprise his girlfriend?" He replied.
Joey giggled, and Adam wrapped his arms around her and kissed her. Joey jumped a little, then kissed back. Adam started to push Joey back towards the couch, until her legs hit the armrest and she fell back onto the couch. Adam leaned over her and kissed her some more, and Joey pulled away from the kiss.
"Adam, do you think we should really be doing this?" Joey asked.
"Oh, it'll be fine. Trust me." Adam smiled.
Joey nodded a little, and Adam continued to kiss her. Then her started to take off her shirt. Joey put her hands on Adam's chest and pushed him back a little. "Adam I really think this is a bad idea."
"Oh, what do you think is going to happen? Your mom will catch us? Yeah, I don't think so." He didn't let her reply and continued to lift her shirt and make out with her profusely. Joey always gave in, and she couldn't say no this time.
By the time they were 'finished' they had ended up in Joey's room. Joey had fallen asleep on Adam's chest, and Adam stayed awake, still admiring his girlfriend. It was only 6 PM, but they were still exhausted. Soon enough, Adam fell asleep as well.
