Its mid winter, the war ended about a month ago. Aizen was killed by Ichigo and the vizards took care of the remaining enemies. Orihime was saved and everyone survived the ordeal.
School ends for the day and Ichigo offers to walk orihime to her apartment. Orihime agrees and they head home.
The weather man on the morning news predicted sunny and partly cloudy. He was wrong though, not the kind of wrong were it rains but the kind were it snows.
It was snowing lightly but neither of them mentioned it to the other. They stopped for a second when they felt the cold flakes of frozen water but soon they started walking quietly, neither noticing the spiritual presser of an approaching hollow. It comes as a surprise when Ichigo feels a sharp pain in his back. Ichigo quickly grabs his substitute shinigamy badge and turns into a shinigamy. He defeats the shinigamy quickly and returns to his wounded body.
"Karosaki are you okay" orihime says with a worried look in her eyes. "I'm fine, don't worry, it's just a scratch" Ichigo answers in a voice that made orihime forget about the deep wound in his back. "When we get to my apartment I'll heal you" orihime said while at the wound and thinking about how painful it must be. "Okay" Ichigo says while staring at the girls' worried eyes and quivering lips.
They get to her apartment and go inside. Ichigo lies down on the couch while orihime heals with a worried look on her face. Then the same question popped back into her head. A question she had since the war ended, but never asked because she didn't feel it was ever the right time. Ichigo could tell that she wanted to ask her something so he said "what's on your mind". Orihime was surprised for a moment, but knew if she didn't say what she wanted he would know and keep asking. So orihime quietly replies with "why did you save me in hoecos mundos". Ichigo didn't anticipate such a question and had a hint of astonishment of the question in his voice while he answered. "Because I had to your one of my closest friends, I couldn't just let you stay their" the Ichigo paused and before he could stop himself he said something he didn't plan on ever confessing " I couldn't let the woman I love get hurt because I'm not strong enough to protect her".
5 minutes pass and orihime is done healing Ichigo. She didn't speak since she heard that and he already apologized for confessing. Without speaking he gets up and heads to the door to leave only to find out they were snowed in. orihime agrees to let him stay over night.
It's around 9 and orihime ate dinner with Ichigo and finds some blankets and a pair of pajamas and gives them to him. She goes into the bathroom and takes a shower. "Why didn't I say anything, he must think I don't feel the same" orihime whispers quietly as she gets out of the shower and wraps a white towel around her body.
Orihime goes into the living room to see Ichigo lying on the couch awake. She walks up to the couch and sits on the ground beside him. He looks at her wet hair and white towel tightly wrapped around her body. "What are you doing" with furiously red cheeks. Orihime blushes and says quietly "do you mean what you said earlier, when you said you love me". "Of course" Ichigo says with a look of astonishment as orihime kisses him passionately. His eyes close as he kisses her back and they deepen their kiss, pulling each other closer together. Then her towel falls. The end.
