Disclaimer:
Note: This is my first anime-related piece I've ever finished, as well as probably the very first Gundam X poem to appear on FF.net. It's about and written from the point of view of Jamil Neate, the stoic, mysterious captain of the Freeden and my favorite character in both Gundam X and all of anime at this time, and it was inspired by a few pieces of fan art I did recently. If you have no clue who in the world I'm talking about or are just curious as to my reasons for this poem, I invite you to take a look at the small shrine I've made for him (it's the first and only one out there as far as I know) called
"Façade"
Look at my face
Can you see the hope and innocence of a young boy?
No, I didn't think so.
That boy died years ago,
And all that remains of him is this scar.
Look at my hands
Can you see the fate I once held in them?
Of course not.
They're concealed by these gloves I wear,
But even then, the bloodstains of mankind still seep through.
Look at my eyes
Can you see my pain and suffering?
I forgot, you can't see them at all.
My sunglasses hide them from the world,
Yet I cannot hide the world from them.
Look at me
Can you see who I really am?
No, no one ever will.
There's nothing left to see anyway.
Because all that you see
Is only a façade.
