Knock-Knock
Sitting up Aimee heard her door again. Grabbing her gun she walked slowly toward her front door. Passing through the livingroom she looked at the clock on the wall. It was flashing one am but it shur felt like she just went to sleep. Getting her gun ready she called out, "Who is it?"
"It's me Aimee. Reid."
"Reid? Jesus Reid do you realize what time it is?" Opening the door Reid pushed right by her and entered the apartment. "Are you okay?"
"Yea. I was thinking about something you said earlier and I had to come by. I am sorry it is so late." Smiling Aimee walked into the kitchen as Reid followed her. "I don't normally visit so late again I am sorry."
"Would you like some tea?" Pulling cups down Aimee put the water on the stove. Gesturing to the table Aimee tried to wake herself up. "Have a seat Reid. Tell me whats on your mind." Pulling out the chair Reid sat down and wiggled out of his coat. Aimee slid in the chair across from him and yawned.
"Earlier when we were finishing up the case you said something that didn't really spark anything for me but after I thought about it I think I missed something. I don't normally miss things it's the curse of being a genius so I am having an issue letting it go."
"What did I say?"
"You said sometimes I don't notice the greatest gifts that are right in front of me.
"Your right I did say that and I meant it. You tend to miss the things that are right in front of you." As the tea kettle screamed that it was ready Aimee slid out of her chair. She poured tea out into two cups and sat one in front of Reid. As she moved to sit back down she studied his body language. Her stomach was turning into a big pile of nerves and he looked like he was contemplating what she meant.
"What do you mean by that?" Picking up his cup Reid took a sip and looked at her waiting for a response.
"Reid, what I meant was sometimes you don't really see whats in front of you. You over think things and look to deeply into them. Sometime it is just what it is."
"What's in front of me?"
"Reid." Sitting her cup down she walked around the table and stood in front of him. "For at least over a month I have asked you to go to get something to eat with me. Everytime I ask you say you have something else to do. Star Trek to watch or books to read."
"So this is about dinner?"
"No Reid your over thinking it. It wasn't about dinner. It was about me asking you out."
"You want to hang out with me? We can hang out. We are hanging out now."
"Reid it is almost two in the morning. I wanted to go out on a date. I really like you Reid."
"Oh…I…I didn't realize. I am not real savvy when it comes to women. I'm sorry." Reid stood up. "We can go out. I mean if you still want to."
"Reid, do you want to date me?" A smile was forming on her face as Reid turned various shades of red.
"Only if you want to. I mean I do but I also don't want you to do it cause you feel guilty." Aimee reached up and gently ran her finger across his forhead to move a loose piece of hair.
"Guilt has nothing to do with this. I want to spend time with you. I would love to spend time with you. Although I would like it to not be at two in the morning. " Smiling she playfully hit him in the shoulder.
"Yeah sorry about that. Sometimes I can't sleep when I am thinking about things."
"No need to explain Reid. This has been enlightening. I am glad we had this talk because now I am going to allow you to take me to out." Reid returned her smile and nodded in agreement.
"I better go. You need some sleep and we both have to work tomorrow." Aimee followed him to the front door and gave him a hug. He appeared to be at a loss of words. After a moment of awkward silence he nodded and left. As he left Aimee shut the door behind him and locked it. As she returned to bed she could not remove the smile that he left on her face.
