Hi everyone!
Despite the ending of season 3, I am staying positive that Patrick Jane will stay with the CBI. This story is meant to be positive, thought it may not seem like it. I really hope you like it, I had the idea at work and scribbled it down in my diary so I didn't forget. Feedback would be appreciated, positive or negative I don't mind.

The victim:
There is one victim.
At first it seems obvious who this is. The victim is the injured one. He is lying in a hospital bed, fighting for his life after being shot.
However, this 'victim' has no visitors. He has no get well cards or balloons. No cuddly toys from relatives. Instead, he has his arm cuffed to the side of the bed. He has people who believe he deserves this. People who wish him ill. He has nurses that are reluctant to help him.
Red John is not the victim here, the man who shot him is.
Patrick Jane is the real victim. He is mentally injured. The wounds aren't visible but they are there. People know they are in his mind. These injuries have been there for quite some time. People sympathise with him. Know his side of the story. Know why he did it. He has had visitors. No get well cards or balloons but he has visitors. They reassure him that everything will be fine. They pray that he gets better. They believe that he doesn't deserve this emotional turmoil.
His arm isn't cuffed, but he is locked away. Not because he is a monster, but because he needs to be cared for. He has people willing to help him. Ready to care for him and give him love and support. He has Sophie, who dropped everything to help him move from victim to survivor. He has us, his colleagues: Wayne, Kimball, Grace and Me. We are more than just his colleagues, we are his friends. His family. His lifeline through all this.
Patrick Jane is the real victim. He will get better. He has to get better. Now that he is free from his past, free to move on, it breaks my heart to see him like this. My best friend who has been the real victim in this race for so many years. I know his recovery will take some time, but I will wait as long as it takes to see that smile again. He is vulnerable and lost and fragile. But he is not alone.
The real victims are never alone.

Hope you liked it. It's supposed to be from Lisbon's POV. Sorry that it is short.
