The libraries tall, domed roof and gray, stone walls were an ideal place for studying and expanding knowledge of the world. Hiro and Kisa had sat and studied all afternoon and were fully tired of sitting, their muscles and bones ached from the elongated period of time.
Kisa stood tentatively and stretched her arms. Hiro yawned and put down the book on Venice he had been half reading, half staring at. "Hiro? Shouldn't we go home?" Kisa asked softly as she hauled her bulky backpack to a standing position. Hiro blinked groggily.
"Oh, yeah. S'pose so." He muttered and hefted his large, black bag. They froze as they heard the soft dripping, then a hard, hollowing pounding on the roof.
"Lovely." Hiro mumbled sarcastically. Kisa offered a weak smile and tugged her backpack onto her back. As soon as they stepped outside, books safe and snug in their oversized bags, the rain came howling down, its calm facade lost on the diminishing blueness of the receding summer sky. Hiro scowled at the blackening clouds and haunting beat of the water on the earths flesh. Kisa looked up to the sky and let the rain cascade down her golden hair and on her eyelid. Hiro frowned,
"You're gonna catch a cold or worse." He informed Kisa. She laughed and pulled him from the sidewalk into the rainy, wet streets.
"This is…just.." he grumbled as Kisa tilted her head up.
"Hiro, catch the rain." She ordered. Hiro almost let out the thoughts of how childish this was but bit his tongue and tilted his face up along with Kisa's. The rain fell cheerily somehow on their upturned faces, Hiro laughed and stuck out his tongue, catching the rain as it hurled down to meet the earths stony surface. I don't want to be anywhere else. Hiro found himself thinking as Kisa's hand found his and the rain kept falling in a never-ending pattern.
