Phantom's Angel
' I don't think he's a monster'
Airabeth whispered as she looked at the cover of her beloved 'Phantom of the Opera' book. She gently stroked the mask with the burning eye on the cover and laid it on her breast. It had been the seventh time she'd read it, and still she was entranced by the Phantom, and how she envied Christine and thought how stupid she was. How couldn't she love Phantom? It simply irked her. She yawned and brushed a few long fire red streaks of hair out of her large blue eyes and laid her head on her pillow, still stroking the mask with the burning eye. Not too long after that she had fallen into slumber, her eyes now gently resting on her lower lids, and her lashes curling gracefully. Extreme beauty Airabeth was in sleep. An angel you would call her.
Not long into her slumber was it, till Airabeth's boyfriend, Travis came in her room. He sighed at the site of his sleeping beauty laying in her bed, with that silly book laying on her breasts.
' Oh, Airabeth, my love. When will you learn to get your head out of the clouds?' Travis asked himself as he took the book away from her. ' He's not real.' He told her, though in deep slumber, she was. Suddenly the book in his hands was almost torn from him by an unseen 'visitor' and thrown at his feet. Travis jumped. ' Ow!' He stared down at the book. The large flaming eye staring up at him. No, not staring. Burning him. Travis looked away from it and back to his beloved angel.
' If ever ghosts were real, he would not be. He's just a monster.' Travis said harshly. He kissed Airabeth on the cheek and left, leaving the book on the floor.
' Insolent boy!' Were the words that rang throughout Airabeth's room. She jumped from her slumber.
' Huh?' She asked the air. No response. Airabeth shrugged and slowly lay back in her bed. She reached over for her book, to find it wasn't there. She rummaged through her bed and accidentally fell on the floor, next to the book. Airabeth let out a sigh of relief and grabbed the book. When she stood up she noticed that the lights had been mysteriously turned off in her fall. She threw her book on the bed and reached for the light switch. She flipped the switch, but nothing happened. She tried again. Nothing. Airabeth sighed annoyed and went back to her bed to notice the burning eye on the cover of her book was actually burning. Bewildered she let her finger just barely touch it. Though the fire was glowing and moving, it was still inside the book. 'What the.' She whispered and pressed hard against the book, not now she wasn't touching it. Now she was falling, the eye opened wider and the flame jumped out at Airabeth knocking her out. The flames then reached in and pulled the unconscious Airabeth inside the book.
'Airabeth?' Knocked Travis at her door. ' Airabeth? Airabeth!' Travis banged against the door and fiddled with knob. 'Damn, it's locked! Airabeth! Angel!'
