London Tipton isn't stupid. She's just observant. She is extremely smart. She knows a vast amount. When Bailey gave her the hideously smelling perfume, she knew she could be intelligent in the open. Her nannies taught her most of the things she knows. After all, Daddy can't have a stupid heir to the Tipton Industries.
The one thing she didn't understand, though, was Cody Martin. She understood everyone else. Moseby was a lonely man who was aggravated by her, the Twins, and children (or childish people). Zack was the womanising, not as intelligent counterpart to Cody. Bailey was a poor farm girl whose fortune changed once she made it to the S.S. Tipton. Maddie, her best friend, was living proof that not all blondes are dumb.
But Cody was a puzzle. Yes, he's also living proof that not all blonds are dumb, but there's so much more to him. She knew right from the start, when Bailey was found to be a girl, that she and Cody were destined for each other. But he kept sending London mixed signals. When he took her to the Eiffel Tower and looked into her eyes, she swore she saw a glimmer of…something. But she observed the loving and longing glances that Cody gave to Bailey, so any thought or feeling about what happened in Paris was pushed down and suppressed.
After everyone graduated, London got the Tipton Industry and shocking everyone with the changes she made. Everyone thought that within the first hour, Tipton Industries would come crashing down to the ground. She continued the funding to the Greek museum, opened a hospital and school for the poor in Africa, funded scholarships, and fixed how much the T.I. workers were getting paid within the first year. She even made T.I. more energy efficient.
One day, she got a call from her secretary, Rhonda. "Hello? Miss Tipton?"
"Rhonda, for the last time, call me 'London'!" London playfully scolded her. "What's up?"
"There's a visitor here. He says his name is Cody Martin?"
"Send him in." She said emotionlessly.
A few minutes later, he walked in. "Why did you lie to us?" He asked.
"What? No, 'Hello London!' 'It's nice to see you after five years of not talking to you London.' 'By the way, sorry for not inviting you to my wedding London.' You ignore me for five fucking years and you think you can waltz in here and everything will be fine?!" She all but shouted. She breathed in deeply. "I did not lie to you. I simply acted idiotic to observe better. You guys never tried to get past that. Not. Even. Maddie." She answered his question in a very controlled voice.
"We tried!" He shouted back.
"No you didn't! You scratched the surface! You didn't care to see what was underneath!" She said, tears streaming down her face.
"That's because you didn't let us." He spat.
"I gave you plenty of chances. I stopped after the Perfume Incident. You used to be the nice twin." She ended quietly. When she saw he was about to say something, she turned her back and stared out the window. "If you haven't left by the time I count to twenty, I will be forced to call security." She said softly. She counted five seconds before she heard Cody leave. Then she collapsed into her chair and broke down. Through her sobs, she whispered to herself something that has become her security blanket over her life, "Not stupid. Just observant."
Disclaimer: I don't own 'Suite Life'.
Author's Note: I have this thing with ditzy characters. I always feel as if they're hiding how smart they really are. I wanted to show a different side to London. This was originally supposed to be a happy one-shot. What the hell happened? Oh well. Review and bye!
