Vanessa sat there in the dark and dreary room. She didn't no what else to do than write an entry in her diary. The entry said:
I'm sure how much longer I'll be stuck in this strange place. I have been here for many years, after all. With my luck, I may never get out of this place. There are guards in front of my door every moment of the day, and even if I was able to make them leave,my he rest of the castle is too well guarded for escape. I should never have had that fight with Mother. If I hadn't, I may be in this mess. She had gotten engaged to her boyfriend after all that time. I just couldn't come to terms with it. It felt like she was just casting Father aside and welcoming someone new as if Father didn't matter in the least. It lead to us saying some words we didn't mean and Mother said one of the worst possible things. I just didn't know that it was serious. She said that she wished the goblins would come and take me away at that very moment. I was hurt that she would say such a thing and went to my room and fell asleep. After a while, something felt off like I was somewhere completely different than my home. I started to open my eyes, but everything was a blur. However, I heard many voices laughing and saying, "That's it! That's the one!" I finally regained my vision and saw the horror before me. Tons of hundreds of goblins scattered about what looked like a town square. I was being hung upside down by my feet. "Put me down this instant!" I shouted. They let me go but completely let go of the rope, which lead to me getting quite a pain on my head. Ever since that point I have been imprisoned by the goblin king in his castle. I have been forced countless times to do the job of changing the labyrinth around for all that entered. For some reason Jareth, the king, appreciated my work in his labyrinth, so he continues to give the job to me. One peculiar thing about this king is that he is always staring endlessly into one of his crystals as if he's obsessed with what he sees in it. Another thing, he always disappears every night at 5:00 and doesn't return until 7:00. I don't know if my mother will ever come rescue me or if she even cares, but I hope I'll be able to escape with or without her. My 21st birthday is tomorrow, and luckily, no one here knows. I don't think anyone here knows my birthday or even my age. It most likely is good for me because I have a feeling that Jareth is planning to do something to me, but I might have to be a certain age first. That is all I can say for now. Until next time.
-Vanessa
Vanessa did look strange. She didn't look a whole lot like her mother. Instead of having burnett hair and green eyes, she had long, wavey, blonde hair and blue eyes. The goblins seemed appealed to it, but Vanessa didn't understand why.
One of the goblin guards started to pound on Vanessa's door. "Vanessa! The king requests your presence in the throne room immediately!" the goblin yelled.
"I'll be down in a minute," Vanessa lightly said. Whenever Vanessa was called to the throne room, something bad was going on. Vanessa wondered what she'd have to face as she walked down the stairs to the throne room.
