Eavesdropping
He looked at his watch, made it with 5 minutes to spare. The traffic in L. A. was an obstacle even for vampires. He opened the door to the office suite a secretary returned his gaze.
"Good afternoon" said the man behind the desk.
"Hi I have an appointment at 2 the name is Louis Hayden. Sorry about cutting it so close do I need to fill anything out?"
"No sir we have your basic information. If Ms. Sanchez requires anything else she will ask for it, did you bring all the documents with you?" asked the secretary.
"Yes everything on your list" said Louis patting the file under his arm.
"Please sit down Mr. Hayden, Ms Sanchez is finishing a phone call, she'll be with you in a few minutes" said the secretary at the desk. Louis took a center seat in the empty waiting room.
It must be some call thought Louis as he took a seat, he was trying not to listen but somethings just get your attention.
"What another one" said Ms. Sanchez in her office. "Damn where are all these blood suckers coming from? You would think competition would limit their numbers. You are staking them to the ground aren't you? I know this is a sideline for but you should consider training someone, you need the help." She laughed "maybe you should start taking heads."
Vampire hunters in the 21st century? Louis thought tensely. The community needed to know about this now.
"Mr. Hayden relax these problems are not as bad as they seem" said the secretary.
Louis read the name plate on the desk. "Thank you Mr. Donaldson I'm fine I just want it dealt with." When I leave here the community will deal with the hunters he thought.
"It will be, Ms. Sanchez and her associates get the job done right the first time" said Henry Donaldson.
Louis returned his attention to the conversation in the inner office.
"These monsters are a cancer on humanity you are protecting everyone by going after them" said Ms. Sanchez emphatically. " Thanks for helping I have to go I have a 2 o'clock waiting."
Louis heard her hang up the receiver. He took a breath and waited to be called in.
The intercom on Mr. Donaldson's desk buzzed. "Henry send Mr. Hayden in", said Ms. Sanchez
"Your up" said Henry, "once she takes on a job hell or high water wont stop her. Your problem will be solved in no time."
Louis smiled nervously "I'm sure your right" he said. He opened the door to Ms. Sanchez's office cautiously. She smiled and introduced herself "please have a seat Mr. Hayden." "I understand Mr. St. John recommended us to you" she said.
"Yes he did, Mick was very happy with the outcome" replied Louis distractedly. He didn't know about your side job though he thought.
"Oh, please a moment, before I forget." Ms. Sanchez pressed a button her intercom. "Henry please see me before the end of the day. I spoke to my friend she'll help you deal with the Insurance and Medicare for your mother. If anyone can get those inhuman bastards to pay up she can. Sorry about the interruption Mr. Hayden It's our busy season and I didn't want get caught up in something and forget to give him the phone number." "Now lets see what you have here" she said looking at his documents.
Louis chuckled to himself and let out an unnecessary breath that's what I get for eavesdropping he thought.
