A/N: A short one-shot that needed to be written to prove to myself I can get past this writers block I've been having. Characters are not mine, neither is the song this is based on.
When his best friend Emma asked him to do something, Killian usually wouldn't refuse. After all, they had been friends since they were ten, and Killian was pretty sure he had fallen in love with her not long after. Not that she knew that. He had managed to disguise it over the past twelve years, not wanting to make their friendship awkward if she didn't feel the same way.
The only time he got to express his true feelings towards her was when they were dancing together, when she thought it was all an act to help her stave off any unwanted advances from any guy that Emma found creepy. Killian had been told by her on more than one occasion, usually when she was tipsy, that he was her favourite person to dance with, which is why the question she had just asked him had stung quite a bit.
"Can you teach Neal to dance with me?"
The question still echoed in Killian's head even though she had left over five minutes ago. Apparently it wasn't enough for Emma to torment him by draping herself over Neal every time Killian went out with the pair of them, but she wanted him to teach Neal to dance with her as Neal didn't like her dancing with Killian.
Killian had bitten his tongue in an attempt to stop his natural reaction of 'No bloody way!' leaving his lips and took a moment to breathe before spouting off some excuse about work, assignments and a lack of time.
Emma had looked hurt, which killed him, but Killian knew he wouldn't be able to stop his true feelings from showing if he taught Neal how to dance with her. Furthermore, the git had two left feet…not literally, but the man could hardly clap to the beat, let alone keep up with the fast rhythm of Emma's body.
He sat on the edge of his bed, put his head in his hands, and hoped for the millionth time that Neal would screw up.
End note: Well, there we go, would love to know what you think! This will possibly be turned into a multi-chap, so any ideas of suggestions are welcome, although it probably won't be continued until I at least finish 'What's My Age Again?'
