Concrete Angel

.

She walks to school with a lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back;
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday,
She hides the bruises with the linen and lace;

Beastboy walked into the cave with a small bouquet of red roses. Tears stained his green cheeks and his clothes. His emerald eyes were glazed with fresh tears. Standing in front of him was Terra; at least, Terra's statue. It was all that was left of her. She gave her life to save the city. To save him. He placed the bouquet in front of the statue.

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask;
Bearing the burdon of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born;

Beastboy began to cry. Fresh tears flowed from his eyes. 'Come on Beastboy, you got to be brave about this. What if people saw you sobbing like this.' He thought. But he didn't feel very brave at all. How could he? He just lost somebody he loved. Again. He hoped it was all some horrifying dream and he would soon be awakened by his alarm clock. He would go downstairs and Terra would be there. Still alive. But he knew this was all too real.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

The thought made Beastboy cry harder. He fell to his knees and burried his face into his gloves. He couldn't take this. Why did it have to be Terra? The one person that actually understood him. The one person he loved.

Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
The neighbors hear but they turn out the lights;
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
When morning comes it will be too late.

The tears flowed heavily down his cheeks like a raging river. His gloves were damp. Why did these things happen to him? First his parents, then Terra! Why?

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

He glanced up at Terra's statue. "Why did you leave me?" asked Beastboy weakly. His crying slowed down to a quiet sob.

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face;
Her name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot.

Beastboy stood up slowly wiping the tears from his cheeks. His eyes were red from crying. He walked up to the statue and wraped his arms around Terra's waist. He just held her there for a while. It seemed to calm him down.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

He leaned forward and gently kisses Terra's stone lips. So cold were her lips. So lifeless. Beastboy turned away and slowly began to walk toward the cave entrance. He looked one more time at Terra then walked away.
