A/N: This is what I think Ginny could've been like after her first year. Let's face it, being possessed by a magic diary and being forced to attack people would leave serious mental scars. We never really saw Ginny give any hint that she'd been really disturbed by what she'd been through, and that's always bugged me.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Unrelenting

1. She couldn't bear to own a diary.

Percy gave her a diary for her twelfth birthday.

Ginny thanked him sweetly with a warm smile and a hug.

While everyone was at dinner she snuck out onto the grounds and burned it.

2. She became terrified of snakes.

In the summer before her fifth year, she'd been sitting in the yard of The Burrow with Luna, trying to pretend that the coming war didn't exist, when a garden snake slithered past their feet.

Ginny had let out a frightened yelp and scrambled away, leaving Luna staring concernedly after her.

3. She could barely bring herself to talk to the people she'd attacked.

She could talk to Hermione, but she still had to force herself to.

Justin had no idea who Ginny was really, so no problem there.

When Penelope smiled at her, Ginny made herself wave or force a smile.

Ginny avoided Nearly Headless Nick as best she could.

Colin, wonderful Colin, wanted to be her friend, chattering away as he followed her around. Ginny didn't have the heart to tell him to stop or to answer him.

4. The name Tom sent a chill through her body.

At the Leaky Cauldron, she found herself unable to call Tom by name and she flinched every time she heard someone else do so.

5. The sight of blood made her want to faint.

She never had found out if it had been paint or actual blood she'd used to write those horrible messages.

If it had been blood, where had it come from? Rats from the chamber maybe?

Ginny was terrified of the thought that she might have killed a student's pet for it.

6. She couldn't bring herself to hate Mrs. Norris.

Oh, she hated Filch all right, but Mrs. Norris was just a cat, she couldn't understand the concepts of pure bloods and muggle borns.

7. The sound of a rooster's cry made her feel guilty.

Again, they were just innocent animals.

8. It was so hard to even look at Harry or Ron.

They'd gone through so much because of her!

Harry had been tormented mercilessly and she knew Ron had been scared to death having to meet the giant spiders in the forest.

And on top of that, she'd nearly taken Hermione away from them.

9. She hated and feared all Slytherins.

Salazar Slytherin had started this whole anti-muggle born thing. Tom had continued it. The current Slytherins were going to maintain it.

And it was the motive for Ginny's actions.

10. She feared Voldemort more than ever.

Ginny had already been afraid of him because everyone else was, because of the stories she had been told.

But now that she'd been subject to his manipulation, his cruelty, his charms, she knew exactly why people were terrified.

Ginny Weasley would never forget the Chamber of Secrets. Her fears would never let her. They would be eternally unrelenting.
