Disclaimer: I don't own Trollhunters! Sadly...

Chapter 1:

Jim sprinted through the Darklands, trying desperately not to trip on air or his own feet. He was running from Gunmar ever since the giant troll decided that Jim was going to be his apprentice, much to Jim's dismay.

Jim, spotting a wall to hide behind, dived behind it and ducked. As much as he hated feeling vulnerable, he hated the thought of dying more. He had two worlds to protect and he would do it and remain victorious.

"Come out Trollhunter! You cannot hide forever!" Gunmar's loud, gruff voice rang throughout the Darklands, causing all Gumm Gumm's in the area to scatter for the fear of being killed.

Jim debated between fighting Gunmar and running. Then he realized he'd die either way. He sighed quietly and made his decision. He crawled out of his hiding spot, and jumped up to a fighting stance.

"You're right, Gunmar, I can't hide forever! So fight me!" Jim shouted angrily.

Gunmar tilted his head back and laughed evilly. "Oh, Trollhunter, you couldn't even stand a chance!"

Jim nearly retorted but he bit his tongue instead of saying something he'd regret. He knew he could hardly begin to fight Gunmar and win. So he'd play along with this apprentice thing and then he'd get a chance to escape.

"You're right. I couldn't. I surrender. I'll be your apprentice.." Jim said in nearly a whisper, but Gunmar heard, judging by the surprised look on his face. He lowered himself to the ground and set his sword down next to Gunmar.

Gunmar chuckled darkly and grinned insanely. "You really are pathetic, Trollhunter!"

Jim looked at him strangely. "I-"

"You must learn to never back down from a fight!!" Gunnar growledGunmar picked up Jim by his amulet on his chest plate. Then, he threw the boy violently on the ground.

Jim stirred and writhed on the dirty floor. Then he glanced up at Gunmar and snarled madly. He made his limbs work despite the awful pain as he stood up.

He knew he had to fight.

He had to fight to win.

He had to fight to kill. He lunged at Gunmar, taking the large beast off guard enough to land a hit with his sword. It only inflicted a small cut though. Gunmar stumbled back and nodded, proudly. His apprentice was learning. Quickly."There you go, Trollhunter! Fight to kill!"

Jim smirked as Gunmar charged at him ready to kill him.

But Jim was smart enough to dodge and leap onto the back of Gunmar and grab his horn. He yanked one of Gunmar's horns back, causing Gunmar to fling him off. Jim fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Gunmar stalked towards the human and was about to kill him, when Jim kicked Gunmar's hand and rolled out of the way.

Gunmar frowned since Jim got the upper hand. But he started to stand when Jim's sword appeared at his neck.

"Ok, fine, Trollhunter. You win this, but I was going way too easy." Gunmar slid out from under Jim as he hopped off him and walked away.

He noticed Jim was out of breath so he walked towards him. "Good job, Apprentice. That was a good fight..I expect you to be here tomorrow at 5:30," said Gunmar as he stomped off.

"5:30!!!?? That's so early though!" Jim complained.

"Deal with it. No complaining or there will be a punishment."

"Fine..."
