She sat waiting, staring out the window. Not that I'd even be able to see if he was coming back she thought to herself. He'd been gone for 2 months now, Toph had been counting down the days until he got home.

Every day alone had been killing her, not that she's ever admit it to anyone. Toph busied herself with practicing her metal bending, Katara and twinkletoes had been to check on her a few times but all that talk of 'sweeties' made her feel sick. Their intentions where good, but the failed attempts only made Toph lonelier and more agitated… she'd found herself snapping at Katara on more than one occasion.

All she wanted was Sokka.

He was the one that made her feel safe. Under all the pretences, she really did need him. Sokka was the only one she let in, the only one she allowed herself to relax around. He was practically her life now.

Her mind wandered back to that night, the night Toph confessed her feelings, the night before Sokka went away…

"Sokka stop being a cry baby and hurry up." Toph barged done a dimly lit hallway, stomping her feet as she walked. She's pulled him out of his leaving celebration, claiming that there was 'something urgent' that needed his attention. It wasn't strictly a lie..

"Where are we going?" Sokka was whining again, not that Toph minded, she had dragged him away from the meat table rather quickly.

"Just shut up will you?" Toph didn't look back at him as she marched down the corridor, determined not to throw herself off.

She barely slowed her pace as she tugged open a large door and slipped inside, Sokka following close behind her. The door swung shut after them and they were left in total darkness.

"Toph.." Before he could start complaining her lips met his, crushing against them. When Sokka didn't respond, Toph started to panic, pulling away. But just as quickly Sokka returned the kiss, placing his hand gently on the crook of her back. He smiled.

"I've been waiting for you to do that for longer than I can remember."

Toph punched his arm, a blush forming on her cheeks.

She was just glad it was dark.

She shook her head, blushing from the memory.

"Missed me I see?"

She must have missed him walking in, so wrapped up in the memory.

A smile spread across her face. Sokka. She launched herself at him from across the room, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his chest.

"So you're not denying you've missed me?"

She laughed, responding with a muffled shut up against his chest.
