Ace is Wild!
Mal looked to the edges of the overhead box canyon. "This might be it gang…"
He looked over to River who was fighting and shooting Reavers ahead of him but not out in the open. He fired into the crowd and help give River cover fire. Suddenly a strange large man in a leather ¾ coat with the stitched name Tam on it jumped into the center of the Reaver onslaught. He used a combination of melee attacks and submachine gun fire to dispatch all the space savages. There were lots of ammunition used however it was efficient. The remaining retreated.
"Dirty foul smelling creatures!" he yelled and then spat flem on the floor. "Woo that was fun!"
"Thanks for the help stranger, that was mighty impressive fighting." Mal called out. The large young man instantly saluted the Captain as he held his hand out for a handshake. "What's your name cowboy?"
"General Reynolds! Its an honor sir!" called the man. Everyone looked bewildered including Mal. "You must be mistaken, who do you think I am?"
"There's very little time sir but you are, or will be General Reynolds, leader of the Alliance Resistance. Promoted after your last tour as Commodore of the entire fleet."
"Right...well i think i need to fix my current ship first….so….who are you?"
"Well am from an alternate future. Honestly everything I tell you won't jeopardize the future I am from so I'll tell you everything. I am a time traveling soldier, hunting down an Alliance super human weapon made from the modified clone of River Tam. We think he's here to retrieve vital intelligence. Why you sent me back here to retrieve the weapon because I'm the best hope of stopping it."
The doctor looked eye to eye with each other. "That doesn't tell us who you really are or why your shirt says Tam. Are you supposed to be my son?" Looking with skepticism.
"Sgt. Ace Tam so you must be my…."
"Really? We have a son" beemed Kaylee hold the doctor's arm. "He's so tall and handsome. We have beautiful son!"
"Sorry to disappoint, auntie. I meant to say my pansy overprotective uncle Simon." Ace hawked another flem ball." River grinned and laughed.
"Wait you're my nephew?" He looked over to River whose eyes were closed and sent a huge toothy smile just nodded in agreement.
"I believe him. I can just feel it." Said River
"Well I need proof. You can't be River's son! River would have better judgment than to have a pre-martial child. Be-besides for a Tam you have no manors, and have a gruff appearance and you're uneducated!"
"Geez for such a smart guy you ain't to bright. You hear it from ma, it's the truth. Well boo hoo doc, it's the truth, I'm a bonafide psychic mind reading, genius super soldier deal wid it. You think the General would send any soldier to take out a super weapon like mommas clone?"
Malcom spoke up. "So why do you need us?"
"Well I need your help. General says he doesn't mind paying himself an advance and to be honest, even with all River's powers, I'm just not as nearly as smart, but I'm strong and good with guns!"
"Ha I'm beginning to like this guy. Puts the doc in his place and pays us on top of that. Smart enough for me." Retorts Jayne with a grunted laugh with a mouth full of energy bar.
"Pops? Is it really you?" The large man ran hugged the half-witted lummox of a mercenary. "I thought I'd never see you again after the war of Tiber!" he sniffed.
River instantly fainted and the crew all turned to Jayne Cobb still being hugged, appearing light headed while still chewing the energy bar. He then looked at River and gulped. "You think as a psychic she'd have seen that one coming."
