Teenage!Elsa - Dirt Problem Oneshot

Elsa heard a crash downstairs and she felt the frost growing at her fingertips. Anna had obviously broken the suit of armor again, but it didn't stop Elsa from worrying. She paced, straining her ears for anymore sounds. When she didn't hear any, she pressed her ear to the door.

Nothing.

Frost patterns began to cover the walls as she felt fear take root in her chest. She bent down on her knees to look through the keyhole, but there was no sign of Anna. Elsa ran her fingers through her hair, messing it up.

"Anna," she choked out, beginning to panic.

She probably just got up. She's fine. What if she's hurt? What if she can't move? Can't speak? After she messes things up she tries to...

"Fix them," Elsa spoke unsteadily, staring at the door. Why couldn't she be more like Anna? What would it hurt to see if her sister was okay?

In Elsa's new found determination, she failed to see that the frost had disappeared and when she tentatively grabbed the doorknob, it didn't cover it. She took a deep breath and turned the doorknob slowly.

She let the door swing open, revealing that Anna had been standing there. Elsa's eyes widened, but neither attempted to talk. The only sounds that could be heard was the shaky breathing coming from both of them.

A tiny smile made its way to Anna's lips.

That was when Elsa remembered. She remembered that it was herself who hurt her sister. She remembered that the reason why she stayed in her room was so that she didn't hurt her again.

Elsa's face contorted and she slammed the door in Anna's face. She fell in her attempt to scramble away from the door and held her hands to her throat, holding back sobs threatening to escape. A flood of tears fell from her eyes and snow began to fall in her room.

How could I be so stupid?

Elsa's head snapped up when she heard a knock. Frozen, she stared at the door.

"Elsa?" came the uncertain voice.

When Elsa didn't answer, she heard Anna sigh. Then, a package slid under the door.

After Elsa was sure Anna's footsteps were absent, she crawled over to the package and sat cross-legged. She opened it, sniffling. She pulled out light blue gloves and a piece paper fell to the floor. Elsa picked it up and turned it over to read it, then frowned.

For my... dirt problem?

Despite the circumstances, Elsa laughed for the first time in years.
