Just Call Me Angel of the Morning

"We're going shopping." Rukia announced, dragging Ichigo from the school grounds immediately after the day ended.

"What?! No!" Digging his feet in, he scowled at her. Shopping? She had to be kidding. It was bad enough now that she was openly living at his place; he kept finding the most random female things all over the house. If this was the kind of stuff Karin and Yuzu were going to get into when they were older, he was going to make sure he was long gone by then.

"WE. ARE. GOING." Her tone brooked no argument, and neither did the chokehold she had around his neck.

"Gllkkkbt!" was all he managed to get out.

She finally let go outside a small tacky secondhand shop.

Ichigo inhaled gratefully and moved a discrete distance away.

"What are we doing here anyway," he asked, eying the shop as if someone would run out at any minute and force him to buy something tacky and… secondhand…

"I need to buy an alarm clock," she said, heading for the shop door.

"But you have one; in fact, you have three alarm clocks, all friggin' BUNNY clocks." Which personally, Ichigo found more than mildly creepy.

"It's not for me." Rukia picked up a clock from the shelf that resembled a pineapple.

"Hunh…" Ichigo stood with his hands in his pockets, staring idly at a row of pink shot glasses.

"It's for Nii-sama, he keeps breaking them." She finally decided on a plain metal alarm clock whose hammer rang back and forth obnoxiously.

"Breaking them how?" Ichigo finally looked at her as they walked to the counter to pay.

Rukia shrugged as she held out her hand, "I don't know. He won't say. Give me 1200 yen."

"What?! Why am I paying for this?" He started to refuse, until he saw the glint in her eye. Gritting his teeth he reached for his wallet and slapped the money on the counter.

"Because, I don't have any money."

Ichigo was sure that was a lie, but didn't feel like calling her on it.

Later that week in Soul Society

The teeth-jarring ringing wouldn't stop. It had to stop. NOW. Reaching under his pillow, Byakuya pulled out his zanpakuto and sat up, eyes still closed.

"Scatter senbonzakura…"

The sakura petals promptly shredded the offending alarm clock, littering the tatami mats around his bed with small bits of metal.

Byakuya fell back onto his pillow and back to sleep, his last thought being that Rukia needed to stop sending him the most annoying clocks she could find in the living realm.
