Yearning For The Past

Lucy passed through the area of Aslan's How that had been turned into an armoury feeling a sadness wash over her as she looked upon those who had lost people close to them during the raid of The Telmarine Castle, Unfortunately the pain of loss was something her cordial could not cure.

Needing a moment alone, Lucy found herself within the place she had come to call, The corridor of carvings baring the story of how she and her sibling had come to enter Narnia but there was one particular drawing that drew her full attention.

The carving of a Faun standing next to a lamp post,

"Mr Tumnus" she whispered and reached out, brushing her fingertips against the drawing before closing her eyes sadly only for them to shoot open when she heard someone coming round the corner,

"Oh! Queen Lucy" Prince Caspian acknowledged with a polite bow as he held a flaming torch in one hand,

"My apologies, I did not mean to disturb your solitude" he said turning to leave but she offered a soft smile, laced with sadness,

"No, It's alright Caspian. I was simply... Reminiscing" she admitted with a sigh looking back at the drawing and Caspian followed her gaze,

"Tumnus The Noble" he said earning a curious expression from Lucy and Caspian smiled,

"That's what he is what the books say" he explained,

"Books?" Lucy pressed gently as he came to stand by her side, placing the burning torch into a holder on the wall,

"About the golden age of Narnia. My professor favoured parts of the subject that focused on your first venture into Narnia" Caspian told her gently and Lucy continued to look at him with a curious expression,

"It was said that he was a Faun with a tainted heart, that his devotion to Aslan had been corrupted by fear caused by the false queen with a heart of ice that was holding all of Narnia within just as cold a grasp" he said as if quoting the words from the book itself,

"Until, the fearful chill was thawed by the warmth of a pure hearted, Daughter of Eve who gave him hope that Narnia would one day be free once again" he said looking at her softly and Lucy frowned, looking down not realising that a tear escaped down her cheek,

"I didn't even get to say goodbye" she whispered sadly.

Lucy felt a warm hand cover her shoulder,

"We cannot move forward whilst we cling to the past, Princess" Caspian said gently and was stunned when she hugged his side and he hesitantly allowed his arm to hold her as he allowed her to cry.
