New Experiences

The last few days had held many new experiences. One, however, she strongly felt she could have done without.
Strongly felt…only days ago she would have been rendered unconscious from strongly feeling anything.
Logically, she knew it would likely have happened eventually, but that way of thinking just didn't come as naturally any more. Now the only constant was the hurt, both in her heart and of her pride.
She'd been so thrilled when he'd accepted her first invitation, and even more so when it had turned out well. In only four dates, he had given her a promise of permanence, though at the time she hadn't allowed herself to take joy in it. But then they had come home, and the grim future she had been informed of was no longer valid.
Yes, home. Except it wasn't her home. She knew no one in this strange place. Not yet.
