"I know I said 'any time', but you were just here this morning."
A blush spread across Atsushi's face, and he nervously scratched the back of his head.
"Well, I know but... I just..." He looked directly at Akutagawa with those big, pleading eyes, and Akutagawa's chest tightened uncomfortably.
"Just get in here, already." Akutagawa sighed and walked away from the door; Atsushi sauntered in, shutting the door behind himself.
The two had recently been taking on a lot of jobs together outside of their regular jobs. Even so, Akutagawa would never admit the kind of relationship he and Atsushi have developed behind the closed doors of his apartment.
Akutagawa had been nice enough to lend himself as Atsushi's respite when he needed reassurance, but lately he'd seemed kind of... addicted? Akutagawa smelled faintly of tea leaves and axe shower gel, and Atsushi loved curling up in his arms; he wasn't ashamed to admit it to himself enough to keep coming. No one else had ever been willing to be this openly affectionate toward him.
Akutagawa had already grabbed the same blanket they were using earlier and plopped down in the floor, holding the corners of the blanket up, "Well, come on then."
Atsushi clapped his hands together and almost jumped into Akutagawa's lap. He closed his arms around the blanket while Atsushi nuzzled his head against Akutagawa's chest. Akutagawa used his Rashoumon to hold the blanket closed so his hands were free; he let them both run through Atsushi's hair, spending extra time on the longer side as his finger slid down it. Atsushi sighed peacefully and deeply inhaled Akutagawa's scent.
"You smell so... Calming." He giggled to himself about how ironic that was. The man who was the dog of the Port Mafia smelled exactly like the place you could call home.
"What's that even mean, huh, Jinko?" Akutagawa nudged Atsushi with his body a little, but Atsushi couldn't see his face, where he had a small grin appear and his eyes lit up.
Atsushi started to hum to himself; Akutagawa didn't recognize the tune, but it sounded happy. He wrapped his arms around Atsushi and squeezed him tightly, nuzzling his head against his.
He would never admit to anyone that he actually looked forward to these moments. He gave Atsushi a kiss on the cheek, which startled the other.
"What was that for?" Atsushi asked lazily.
"I'm just glad you're here."
End note: The song Atsushi was humming is "First Day of my Life"
