This is just a short Kurt/Sue relationship one-shot I thought of after watching season 2 episode 21. It might turn into a multiple chapter story and it might not.
As Sue and Becky held each other in their arms, Kurt stood in the doorway watching with a soft, faint smile. The two ladies broke apart before saying good-bye, and Becky left with a small wave to Kurt.
"Hey ya, Porcelain," before Sue could continue, Kurt cut in.
"How are you doing?" he looked at her with eyes full of concern. "I know it was your sister's funeral and all, but I have never seen you open up like that in front of so many people."
Sue stayed unnaturally quiet as she handed him a glass of her omnipresent protein shakes (or whatever it was). She stood in the center of her office with her back to the teen. After several minutes of silence, she finally said, "I'm sorry." It was faint; almost a whisper. But Kurt heard it perfectly. "I'm sorry for not being there for you. I'm sorry for not taking you to parks or on strolls around the neighborhood. I'm sorry for not supporting you and Burt after Kathy died." Kurt had to close his eyes for a couple seconds to keep from breaking down. "I'm sorry that it had to take all this drama with the glee club for us to finally get close to each others. And I'm sorry for not meeting you sooner."
As she slowly turned to face Kurt, he could see her eyes very slightly watered around the edges.
He hesitantly took a couple steps for so they were only a few feet apart. He looked her straight in the eyes to be sure she could see the sincerity in his next words. "Okay first, you don't have to be sorry for those things. They made me who I am, and they helped me grow and learn. Also, there's nothing anyone can do about it now so don't worry about it so much. And you're here now, aren't you?" Kurt's tears were slowly making their way down his cheeks as he spoke.
Sue nodded with tears threatening to spill, "yeah."
"Kathy and Carole might always be mother figures to me, but they're still step-mothers. I can only ever have one birth mother. And no matter how annoying and challenging you can be at times, I will always be proud that I'm your son." By now, Kurt had let his tears flow freely. So had Sue.
"Thank you, Kurt," Sue breathed. She pulled him in for her second hug of the day. "I love you."
Kurt held the woman tight. "I love you, too."
They stayed in the comfort of each other's warmth for several moments.
The touching embrace was broken when the school bell rang through halls, and the mother and son duo reluctantly pulled apart.`
Sue took a few calming breathes before saying, "Alright, get to class, Porcelain. I don't need a dropout for a son." She smirked at him teasingly with motherly love in her eyes.
"Yes, Coach." Kurt responded with an almost identical smirk.
And with that he left his mother's office.
Let me know what you guys think and if I should continue it.
