He would never even begin to compare himself to Zack, it just didn't happen that way. He didn't have those cerulean eyes like the sky, which'd never fall to disappointment or succumb to fear. His mouth would never be like Zack either, because Zack's mouth said whatever he wanted to say whenever he wanted and never be afraid of the outcome. His toned body, the amount of exercises he could do, that warm carefree personality—

Tseng wasn't any of that.

He was strict and reserved, the exact way every Turk was trained to be. He was well dressed and formal, a smile never creeping up behind him because he'd snuffed out those feelings a long time ago.

He wasn't going to be anything to her besides a shield.

She was calm and collected, but her aura of innocence was overbearing to the point that he wanted to be smothered by it. He couldn't even begin to describe the weird sensation his chest refluxed into when he gazed into her ivy eyes, whilst trying to decipher life's pleasures in them. He could swear they reflected his desire and his curiosity, but it was more than likely the morning sun.

In the mornings he'd visit, and she'd hold a tiny flower out to him telling him to hold it for her as she redid her hair, or patted down her dress. When she was done, she just skipped away merrily to her flower cart and began dragging its uneven wheels through the uneven dirt.

"And the flower?" he'd say.

"Just keep it." she'd reply, a smile on both their lips. He knows they're smiling for different reasons. Someday she'll understand.

He could never begin to intrude into their relationship, even though he wanted to more than he's ever wanted anything in his life. It doesn't matter, he whispers to himself late every night, love is fleeting, he states. Not that anything else mattered. He just wasn't Zack in the end.

He wasn't any of that.
