Coalition Victory
It was eerily quiet in the Gundam pilots' current safe house. Normally at the best of times you could hear Wufei chasing Duo around with his katana.
Quatre silently padded into the little kitchen. Looking around he saw Wufei calmly polishing his sword and Trowa reading a book while eating a apple.
"Hey guys!" Quatre stated cheerfully. "Have either of you guys seen Duo and Heero? I need to go over the next mission's schedule with them."
Wufei didn't even look up from his sword. "Last time I heard them was the loud yelling from Maxwell."
Trowa glanced up from his book. "I heard Heero mutter something about a 'game'. I'm not sure you want to disturb them." He trailed off.
Quatre bit his lip tentatively. He really needed to go over the plans with them. "Well, I'll just go see if they're… uh… 'less' busy…" with that Quatre headed upstairs to Duo's bedroom. As he walked along the hallway he could hear muffled shouts. When he reached the door he stopped, and put his ear to the door to hear what they were saying more clearly.
"You can build a perfect machine out of imperfect parts.(1)" Heero murmured.
"Are you saying my snake's imperfect!?" Duo asked, more like stated, loudly.
"Yes." Heero replied
"Oh… Is that so? Well you have to admit though… you still need it badly… Don't you Hee-chan?" Hee-chan?" Duo said with a mischievous tone to his voice.
"Don't call me that." Heero snapped. " …and yes. I need your snake…"
"Ha!" Duo yelled triumphantly "Oh I knew you'd come around eventually! And since it IS a nice big six…"
"So? Mine's a nine." Heero snarled, seeming annoyed at the recent turn of events.
Quatre stood outside dumbfounded. He knew Heero and Duo were friends… But he never thought it was anything more then that. He put his ear to the door to listen some more.
"So… Are you gonna take it?" Duo asked in a seductive tone. Quatre could just picture the seductive smile that was probably going with it.
"Mission accepted." Heero stated coldly.
"Oh… oh… OH!" Came the low murmur from Duo. "Hey! Can you do that?! I thought this would stop you…" Quatre heard the bed springs shift as Duo moved on the bed.
"Oh." Came Heero's almost inaudible reply. "You're right. That did stop my plans."
"Really!?" Duo exclaimed. "In that case…"
At that point Quatre couldn't take it anymore. He had to get them to stop for the sake of his sanity.
Quatre opened up the door to find Duo and Heero sitting cross-legged on Duo's bed. Between them sat four almost identical rows of cards. The two top lines had cards with various types of animals, below them were two rows of cards which seemed to have pictures of different types of land. To the right of each boy's lines were two piles of cards, one larger one face down ad another smaller one face up. Both Heero and Duo were holding cards in their hands.
"Er… Hi Quatre. Do come in." Duo was the first to recover.
"Uh… Hi… I'm sorry… I just… thought." Quatre stuttered.
"What? We were just playing Magic. And for once I was winning" Duo grinned at Heero who just glared. "Why? What did you think we were doing?"

(1) Coalition Victory is the card Heero is quoting from. If you have one of all five basic land types and one creature of every colour and you cast this spell unopposed you win the game, it's a gold card and I have it.
