CullenGirl: Hey guys. I got back into One Piece haha. And I got a new favorite character, Ace Portgus. …..I….I saw his death in a slideshow and it just made me bawl, especially when I read on his wiki page how he and Luffy promised each other they would die with no regrets, and he did die with one. He never got his question answered…Well, that's how I came up with this little one shot! ^^ I hope you all enjoy!

"I still don't know…" the voice of her lover caused her to look up at his face, her eyes being granted the sight of him staring up at the ceiling, obviously thinking hard about something.
"Still don't understand what?" she asked, moving to rest her head against his chest again, the steady thumping of his heart soothing her.
"Why was I born? Should I have been…" The simple question was enough to make the woman sit up and stare down into the black eyes of her lover. Her own blue orbs held an obvious sadness since she wished with all her heart he would accept that he was supposed to be here. Sighing, she slowly reached out and brushed his black hair from his face.
"Ace…how long are you going to keep asking that?" she whispered, the pain she felt at hearing those questions coming into her voice.
"I don't know. I just…I need an answer, Kimiko. Should I have been born?" he asked, more to himself this time. He continued to stare up at the ceiling until he felt Kimiko shaking next to him. Looking over at her, he sat up instantly at seeing the tears falling down her face. "Hey, Kimiko, why are you crying?" he asked her gently.
"Because you're an idiot!" she yelled at him, the tears continuing to fall. "You're always asking those stupid questions! How long is it going to take you to realize that yes, you were supposed to be born, that you were born to be a pirate! You were born to be my lover, Ace!" she cried, throwing her arms around him as she shook. Ace stared at the wall behind her with wide eyes, but slowly wrapped his arms around her as well.
"Kimiko…"
"Please. Believe me, Ace, you were supposed to be born, for me. There's no other man for me, not anywhere in this vast world." she whispered into his shoulder, her hold on him getting tighter. The tremors coming from her body slowly died down as Ace's hold tightened in return.
"I believe you, Kimiko. You're the only one for me too." he whispered to her gently, his fingers running through her black hair gently, trying to calm her down again. "C'mon, let's lay back down and get some sleep, okay?" he asked her gently, slowly pulling her to lay down next to him.
Kimiko sighed as she snuggled up to Ace's chest, letting the thumping of his heart soothe her yet again. "I love you, Ace Portgas."
"And I love you, Kimiko Watanabe."
