Purple shirt and gray pants with black converse. No, I'll look like a bruise. A blue dress with pumps? Nah, too fancy. A cardigan over a tank top with jeans and suede boots?
Perfect.
What? It is the start of the most important day of my life! Trust me, I'm not that girly. I just trying to make a good first impression.
I'm going to be at Hogwarts for seven years, after all. Oh well, it's not going to make a difference anyway after I change into my robes.
As I was walking down the stairs, I began to smell something familiar. I know I've smelled it before, but I don't exactly know what it is.
When I got to the kitchen, I couldn't believe what I saw. Mom was making her specialty: a chocolate pancake cake( chocolate pancakes piled on top of each other, and then smothered in whipped cream and frosting)!
The last time she had made one of those was exactly 2 years ago when I was turning 9 years old. Even more surprisingly, the last time I saw her up and about this early in the morning was at least 5 months ago.
She has been working late as the Minister of Magic for many reasons that she doesn't share with me and my siblings, no matter how much we pester her.
"How's my little Quidditch-girl doing today?" she says. I smile and give her a big hug. "I asked you a question!" She has a serious face on, but I can see the smile playing on her lips.
My mother, Ginny Potter, has the most spunk I had ever seen on a full-grown woman. That explains how she won over my dad , Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, the only 1st year Quidditch house player in 500 years, a Parseltongue, an amazing Auror, whatever you want to call him.
"I'm fine, Mom." I mumble. " you excited?", she says, with as much enthusiasm as a little kid asking for a lollipop. "No," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm, "I would probably be considered mental if I wasn't!" "Mom, this is going to be the best day of my life, and you ask me if I'm excited?"
Mom had a strange expression on her face.
"Yes. I asked you if you were excited and just expected a yes or a no. I didn't expect a full blown out answer."
" We haven't got time to waste. Just hold on here for a moment, I have something that will make your day even better!" With that, she walks away.
Dad walked in with Mom when she came back. She was carrying a large, wrapped present.
The second she handed it to me, the lights turned off, confetti poured down, and my two older brothers, James Sirius, and Albus Severus, came running down the stairs with the most beautiful cake I had ever seen in my life. My sort of-sister Maria came and poked me in the back and when I shrieked and turned around, she placed a beautiful diamond-encrusted tiara on my head.
They all started singing Happy Birthday while I blew out the candles. "Make a wish." they said.
I looked at all of them with a sincere look on my face and said, "I'm speechless."
"You'll be even more speechless when you open your present." said Maria, with a knowing smile.
I ripped open the package and almost fainted.
