Hey guys! I did a really short first chapter of my rewrite of TEARS OF RED. I've decided to name this story Dani California. This goes in more depth of Allison's old thug life. I'm trying to change the formatting, also.
I DO NOT OWN DEATH NOTE, AND/OR IT'S CHARACTERS.
Grabbing a pack of cigarettes, I sat myself down on my patio, exhausted from today's work. I had just moved into my new house, and now I decided I would have a well deserved cigarette. My family never liked the fact that I smoked, but I had disregarded that when I first started. I did that with a lot of things. I guess that's one of my flaws. So was my determination to be good at everything. Even if I had copied my brother's idea of being a detective, I'm still just as good. Some might call me selfish, too egotistical. I say, nah, they're just jealous. I might have an ego on me, but I can be serious whenever I want. Some might also call me bipolar. I may not be bipolar, but I do have my quirks.
I jumped at the sound of my cell phone ringing, singing the tune of 'Pretty Fly for a White Guy'. Laughing at the ring tone, I answered the phone.
" Hello?" I asked, knowing from the caller I.D that Naomi Misora would be speaking to me.
" Allison? Are you ok?" Naomi asked, and I frowned. Why wouldn't I be ok? Nothing happened to me..
" Yea, I'm fine. I've been moving stuff into my house today. Why wouldn't I be ok?" I replied, still frowning.
" Oh. Raye has been trying to call you all day. Can I just give the phone to Raye? He needs to talk to you." Naomi said back. I noticed her voice was on edge.
" Hello? Allison?" The deeper voice of my brother came from the phone.
" Yea?" I replied. I sighed slightly. My brother usually doesn't take this long to answer something.
" The criminals that had heart attacks, it's occurring more and more often. We've come with the conclusion that it's murder. I know you took off to move into your new house, but I really need you to go down to Soichiro's station. L didn't hire you to stay in secrecy, so just give your boss a hand." Raye pleaded. I bit my lip. I said when this all started I wanted nothing to do with this case. Looks like that's inevitable now.
" Raye, I work with Soichiro.I'm just a cop. What am I supposed to do?" I asked, a slight edge to my voice.
" Just go down there. Based on information I've been given, almost the whole damn police field quit. There's only six people, not including yourself." Raye reminded, and I clenched my fist.
" I said I wanted nothing to do with this case!" I shouted into the phone. A long pause came from the other end of the phone.
" Get off your ass and do something. Put the cigarettes down, and help us!" Raye scolded. I sighed, and put my cigarette out.
" Fine." And I hung up.
I pulled up at the police station, and entered the building. Inside, it looked like a ghost town. Nobody was there. Only six or seven people were sitting in there.
" Ms. Penber, I'm glad you decided to join us." Soichiro said, pulling out a chair for me. I gave a half smile, sitting down, pulling out my laptop.
It was about 20 minutes in of working, and I heard a computer generated voice. So that was L.
