Guardian Angel
Disclaimer: I don't own House M.D.
A/N: This is my first House fic! Reviews would be greatly appreciated. I was a bit nervous about posting this, so please let me know if the characters seemed out of character or something.
Cameron walked down the long, familiar hallway. She'd been down it so many times before, but this time her heart was beating fast in excitement. She enjoyed these daily, random visits to House's office, and even though he would never admit it, she knew he did too.
"Brought you some coffee." Cameron announced her presence as she walked into the room.
The blonde that House referred to as 24 was talking to House at his desk.
"So you just fired him?" The blonde asked.
Cameron refrained from rolling her eyes. They were talking about Chase, and Cameron was sure that 24 had some kind of hidden agenda in mind.
"Yep." House said in a annoyed way, which relieved Cameron. "Look, if you're looking for some hot gossip, go to Cuddy. I'm sure she'll tell you something. Why don't you go find something to do?"
"But we don't have a case right now and I thought it would be nice for us to get to know each other." 24 said.
"Well if you don't leave the room right now then we will have a case."
24 rolled her eyes and nodded at Cameron as she left the room.
"Here." Cameron handed House the coffee, which he took.
"So 24 is irritating you huh?"
"They all irritate me."
"Then why don't you fire them and actually hire people you like?"
House didn't answer. Wilson had asked him the same thing the day before.
" Speaking of Chase… you guys engaged?" House asked as casually as he could pretending that it didn't bother him, even though it did.
"Why would you ask that?" Cameron asked, surprised. Of course he would change the subject.
House shrugged. "Well are you?"
"No, why would we be?" Cameron lied, she just wasn't ready for House to know.
House's eyes narrowed. He was going to kill Wilson. "You guys were so eager to get hot and heavy in this hospital every night, why not just seal the deal?"
"Why do you care about what I do with Chase so much?" Cameron grinned.
"I don't." House stood up and grabbed his cane. "I've got some angels to deal with." He gave her a slight smile and then headed out of the room.
Cameron shook her head and sat in House's chair. She wished that House would stop pretending. If he would just open up, then maybe they could have been something, but she knew that that was wishful thinking. He would never let her in. He always had his guard up. But he had kissed her back and he would always be her guardian angel. So she would continue to come to his office, and they would keep pretending.
A/N: Please review and let me know what you think!!!
