"Did you finally get her down for the night?" Kathryn asked Chakotay as he entered their living room.
He rubbed his eyes and sighed, "Yes, and if Tuvok calls a red alert, I'll wring his Vulcan neck."
She chuckled, "Well, now we know. No mushrooms for Kaya."
"How can my own child not like mushroom soup? Or anything with mushrooms for that matter? I tried pizza with teeny tiny pieces of mushrooms, and she looked at it like it contained the plague, and turned into a dinner time tyrant. Miral must be rubbing off on her."
She laughed, "It's probably of combination of Miral and Tom. You know he lets them watch Captain Proton."
"Yeah, but mostly just the Arachnia episodes."
"Ah, I'll have to commend Mr. Paris on his good taste. Those are really the only good episodes."
"Indeed, my Queen," Chakotay joked as he bowed to her.
She smacked his arm playfully, "If it makes you feel any better, honey, she doesn't like coffee either."
He raised an eyebrow at her as he got up to get some tea. "Coffee? She's only three, she's not old enough for coffee, Kathryn."
She rolled her eyes and smiled, "Of course not, but I took her over to mom's before we came to Voyager."
"And?"
"Well, since we got back to the Alpha Quadrant, mom's been keeping cups of coffee ice cream in her freezer for me. Real ice cream, not replicated. She said she'd be remiss if she didn't give me a cup before we headed off to Betazed. Anyway, Kaya wanted some, so mom went to get some chocolate ice cream, but accidentally grabbed more coffee ice cream. Needless to say, I got a second helping, and Grandma and I learned that Kaya really doesn't like coffee."
He laughed, "You know, if it weren't for the fact that she's the spitting image of you with my complexion, hair, and eyes, and is so contrary, I'd think she got switched at Starfleet Medical."
"Or maybe Q messed with her preferences," Kathryn jokingly suggested.
"Hey! I resent that, Kathy!" They heard Q say from somewhere in the multi-verse. The statement was followed by a rather childish raspberry being blown.
Laughing, Kathryn started to get up as Chakotay took another drink of his tea, "Well, maybe the next two will be more like us."
A geyser of tea suddenly spouted from Chakotay's nose, and he began desperately reaching for a tissue. At this point, Kathryn was glad she'd agreed to secretly record his reaction for her mother and sister. She couldn't wait to see their reactions. She definitely couldn't wait to see what Sekaya had to say about that tea geyser.
Muffled by his tissue he said, "Did you just say-?"
"Yep."
"A-and twins?"
"Yes, indeedy, Daddy."
He exhaled, "Whoo...forget tea. It might be time for whiskey."
She laughed and hit his arm. "First things first, I was thinking Shannon and Kole for a boy and girl. Got any suggestions if it's boys or girls?"
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
This is just something funny that popped into my head today. It's based on the fact that I hate mushrooms (this coming from someone who actually ate her veggies as a toddler and would finish her brothers' as well), and coffee jokes aside, I don't particularly like coffee either. I thought it would be ironic if Janeway and Chakotay had a child who didn't like either one of the things their parents did.
