A/N: I found an image of Captain America looking at the case with Jason's Robin costume in it, and asking an offscreen Batman if he really lost a partner. No clue where it's from, and I know next to nothing about Marvel, but I've noticed that Jason and Bucky are constantly compared.

This is the result.

Steve looked at the glass case.

Jason Todd

A good soldier

"You... Lost a partner?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"He was killed by one of my foes, The Joker, while we were searching for his biological mother. We had discovered her in Ethiopia, being blackmailed into working for the Joker. He went to confront her, but she betrayed him. He was brutally beaten with a crowbar, and then left with his mother in a warehouse wired to explode. His last act was to try and save her."

"I had a partner once too... His name was Bucky and he died trying to defuse a bomb."

"Hm"

"He was like a brother."

"He was my son, and I failed him. I arrived just as the bomb went off."

"You know, sometimes I wonder what would happen if I saw him again. I have a feeling that I will, but it won't be on good terms."

"Maybe. I almost killed Joker after that. It took one of the strongest superheroes in this reality to stop me. I sometimes still wish that I had."

"Wow."

A sound is heard.

"The machine is ready to send you back to your dimension, Captain."

"Oh. Goodbye, Batman."
